The “rule of 33” is an informal TIG welding guideline often associated with setting up aluminum welding parameters: approximately 33 amps per millimeter of material thickness, with adjustments for joint design, alloy, fit-up, position, and heat dissipation. It is not a universal specification or substitute for a qualified procedure. Actual settings should be developed and validated for the specific aluminum application.
